The Family Chmielewski - Family History

John Chmielewski - 1767 to 18??
John Chmielewski was born Abt. 1767 in Wasosz, Kreis Schubin, Posen, Purssian Poland.

Sometime around 1800 he married Elizabeth. We do not know her last name.

Over the next 16 years they had four known children: Dorothy, Michael, Rosalia and Eva.

Elizabeth passed away in Wasosz on March 30, 1834.

Michael Chmielewski - 1805 to 18??
Michael Chmielewski, son of John and Elizabeth, was born Abt. 1805 in Wasosz, Kreis Schubin, Posen, Purssian Poland.

Sometime around 1830 he married Marianne Skowronski.

Over the next two years they had two known children: Rosena and John.

We do not know what happened to Marianne. We assume that she passed away of an accident or in child birth.

Sometime around 1833 he married Catherina Alwina, she was born in Wasosz Abt. 1810.

They had three known children: Michael, Peter and Anna.

Peter Chmielewski - 1835 to 18??
Peter Chmielewski, son of Michael and Catherina, was born on March 25, 1835 in Wasosz, Kreis Schubin, Posen, Purssian Poland.

On January 28, 1850, in Wasosz he married Francis Gorska, daughter of Michael Gorski and Catherine Switalonski.

They had four known children: Michael, Emelia, Rozalia and Constantia.

It appears that they settled in Chrpalewo as that is where we find Emelia’s marriage record.

We believe that Michael was the first Chmielewski to immigrate to America about 1879. His sister Emelia and her husband Jan Piechorowski followed him 3 years late and settled around the corner from him.

Michael Chmielewski was the brother of Emelia and we believe to be the frist Chmielewski to immigrate to America about 1879.
